What is Acne?
The first truth about acne, quite simply, is that Acne is a genetic disease of the hair follicles. Hormones cause some amount of excess oil production in the pore causing a pimple to form. This is due to dead skin cells inside the pore not being able to flush themselves out but instead they begin to stick together and form a mass down inside the follicle. As a result, the body cannot remove these cells quickly enough to prevent an impaction.

What do the in-clinic treatments do?
We will customize each treatment for the condition of your skin at the time of treatment. At first your home care products may have your skin somewhat dry so your skin may need to be re-hydrated to be more receptive to your home care. Sometimes more antibacterial action is needed and we will oxygenate your skin to assist in killing acne bacteria. We may need to use peeling soltuions with skin lighteners to assist in the appearance of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation caused by acne lesions that have healed. If needed we will perform extractions with every treatment so your skin clears more quickly.
